Print jobs come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and so do printers. There are sheet fed and web printers, then presses that come in single and multiple colours and in a variety of sizes. Also there are numerous kinds of digital printing and large format printing for displays. It doesn't stop there, cutting, folding, form cutting, gluing, binding - they are are all part of the production process. Selecting the printer for the job is not just a question of price, but the right printer will often produce a better job at a better price.
If you choose to allow me to handle your printing you would be correct in assuming I will charge for that. But if in the end you pay the same, or less, and everything works well with no effort from you, why would you want to do it all yourself?
More than that, if there is any sort of problem between designer and printer - you will probably never need to know.
